    July 31st is Now "Chamber Day!"
    Our Chamber was founded on July 31st in 1917.

    March After Six at Greenwich Historical Society

    Greenwich Historical Society provided the perfect networking venue to help us celebrate our 100th year of business and commerce. Below is an excerpt from the slideshow they crafted for our event - a perfect tribute to our town's vibrant history.

      This is a view of Greenwich in 1917, the year the Greenwich Chamber of Commerce was founded.
    • 2-Electricity-Greenwich-w450.png
      Electricity changed many things for the Town. By 1914 more than 12 merchants had electric marquees that were kept lit until 11:30 p.m.
    • 3-Finch-w450.png
      William E. Finch, Sr.’s pharmacy was located where Starbucks is today. He became president of the Chamber in 1920 and documented the civic role of the Chamber for 20 years in scrapbooks that are now in the Archives at the Greenwich Historical Society that was dedicated to his son William E. Finch, Jr. in 1987.

      On Conscription day 2,218, young men registered for service in World War I. That was more than 10% of the total population of the Town.

      The Chamber of Commerce spearheaded the creation and dedication of a WWI memorial in 1928 in the Municipal Town Center.
    • 6-Greenwich-Ave-Parade-widening-w450.png
      Greenwich’s population more than doubled between 1910 and 1930 to 33,000. In 1932 a parade celebrated the widening of Greenwich Avenue.
    • 7-Greenwich-Ave-preservation-w450.png
      Greenwich Avenue was designated an Historic District in 1978, followed shortly thereafter by the designation of the Municipal Center Historic District (outlined in red). The surviving buildings of historic significance date from 1878 to 1940.
